Despite most analysts’ expectations are quite subdued for the equity year 2023, and a recession is looming in many countries – Robert Horrocks is positive about China and some emerging markets. “The quality of companies from the emerging markets has not only improved across the board in the past ten years,” notes the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Asia specialist Matthews Asia, “but there are also many more such high-quality companies.” In his current review and outlook (see his video here), Horrocks therefore already awards 2023 the title of “A Year of Emerging Quality” and highlights particularly undervalued opportunities in China, India as well as some nations in Latin America.
