Today, 31 May 2023, it is exactly one year since the public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt am Main raided the offices of DWS and Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt. The reason for the raid, which triggered a tremor in the German fund industry, was allegations of greenwashing in some DWS funds. The day after, the then DWS CEO Asoka Wöhrmann resigned from his post, and a few days later Stefan Hoops took over as CEO. What has happened since then? What have the investigations achieved? And how has the fund industry reacted to the investigations and the greenwashing allegations? I talked about this for the new episode of the GFC Podcast with Meike Schreiber, Frankfurt correspondent for Süddeutsche Zeitung. She has been reporting on Frankfurt’s financial centre for 20 years, first for the Financial Times Deutschland and then for the “SZ”, and has followed the scandal closely.
